“…This range of rocks stretches over eight or nine miles; it begins and end so abruptly that is looks like a crown on the top of a mountain…” J.Q.Adams, Letter XXIII, 27 August 1800
This is how Szczeliniec Wielki, the highest peak of the Stolowe Mountains was described by John Quincy Adams, who later became the US president, in on of the letters from his trip to Silesia. Since the time when the future host of the White House wandered among the amazing rock formations, these mountains have been fascinating tourists with the mystery hidden among the variety of their shapes… Stolowe Mountains are one of the most beautiful and most attractive mountain ranges in Poland. The range comprises the Stolowe Mountains National Park.
