Poland’s best holidays

Whatever type of holiday you’re looking for, from skiing to windsurfing and sightseeing, Poland offers a number of exciting holiday options. In today’s troubled economic times, and with the pound down against the Euro, Poland’s a good place to look if you want to do a holiday on a budget. Here’s a few of Poland’s best holidays on offer.

Krakow – The impressive city of Krakow, located to the south of the country, is one of Poland’s oldest and most important cities. Home to the second oldest university in Europe as well as a fantastic castle, indoor market and countless museums and places of historical importance too, it has an annual summer temperature of around 23 degrees and is a great place to visit to see the sights and sample the food.

Baltic Coast – It’s a little known fact that Poland even has a coast, let alone an impressive 400 miles of golden sand and lapping seas! The most popular region on Poland’s Baltic coast is the town of Sopot, which is also home to the longest pier in Europe as well as scores of clubs open well into the night, attracting young people from all over Europe after a cheaper alternative to the more popular destinations like Ibiza or Ayia Napa. It’s also a haven for watersports enthusiasts as the strong summer winds make for perfect sailing and windsurfing conditions. Well worth a look.

Zakopane – Poland’s most popular ski resort, Zakopane is situated on an offshoot of the Alps, high up in the mountains surrounded by breathtaking scenery which, on a clear day, can be some of the best in Europe. Rising fast amongst the resort rankings of Europe, it offers a great mix of good slopes, value for money and eastern European flair. Lift passes will cost about £7 a day and equipment hire for boots, poles and skis inclusive will be no more than £50. Accommodation is very reasonably priced and a hearty meal will set you back around £10. Its highest slope is fantastic but can be a little precarious for beginners, so make sure you’re up to the challenge before you get on the ski lift!

As with all holidays, watersports and skiing carry a serious degree of risk. Usually you’ll be fine if you’re careful but it’s imperative to prepare for the worst and therefore advisable to take out adequate travel insurance with a reputable provider such as Go Travel before you board the plane for peace of mind and safety. Happy Holidays!
