Poland is a top destination for holiday-goers wanting to do a trip on a budget, whether it’s skiing in Zakopane, white water rafting on the Dunajec river or heading for the coast for some sun and watersports, you can have a great deal of fun for a seriously low price. With that in mind, here’s a mini guide to watersports on the Baltic coast. The Area - It’s a little known fact that Poland even has a coast, let alone that it’s one of the longest at over 400 miles and with average summer temperatures of 25-30 degrees it’s a tempting destination. You can reach the popular coastal areas by flying into Gdansk on a budget airline (try Ryanair and Wizz) and then catch a train to Gdynia and Sopot, the big summer destinations. Sopot, the most popular of them all, is visited by tourists of all ages, from groups of young people out to have fun to families wanting to relax and unwind. It’s home to the longest pier in Europe and the nightlife is a massive part of the tourist created economy, with a whole host of clubs and, being Poland, cheap drinks prices. The Watersports –Sopot beach benefits from medium to strong winds in the summer which are good both for keeping cool and providing the wind needed for sailing and windsurfing. And the wind watersports are where Poland’s coast really excels, bringing enthusiasts and beginners alike form all over Europe. The beaches are also adorned with bars, restaurants and cafes as well as rental shops for watersports equipment and jet skis too. Near to the beach is an aqua park with its numerous slides, pools and other highlights, good if you’re looking to escape the beach for a day. Prices – A great advantage of holidaying in Poland is the low prices. Accommodation is cheap and there are campsites in the area too. The restaurants are affordable and you can easily find a meal for around £10 a head, including drinks. Scuba diving is also available in the area and if you’ve ever considered it then Sopot’s a great place to start as diving can be expensive to learn, so doing it in a country renowned for its value for money is always a good idea! As with all activity holidays, a watersports trip will carry a natural and obvious degree of risk. Make sure therefore that before you head for the airport you’ve bought adequate travel insurance from a reputable provider such as Go Travel. Happy holidays! |
