Public transport in Wroclaw
In Wroclaw you can travel by: - public buses or trams (buses and trams are provided by one carrier company - public transport company (Miejskie Przedsiebiorstwo Komunikacyjne) - taxis (the service provided by numerous taxi corporations). Travelling by buses: There are two kinds of bus connections to choose from – regular buses, which are marked with numbers and which stop at every bus stop and express ones marked with letters, which stop only at some bus stops. One-time ticket (regardless of the travelling time this ticket is valid after punching it in a bus only on the particular route) can be bought in ticket machines (caution: not all ticket machines accept banknotes and give the change) or in newsagent’s shops (the last one is especially advisable). Of you change the bus you should punch a new ticket. The prices of one-time tickets are as follows: - regular buses: a full-priced day ticket – 2 zl (a full-priced night ticket is marked with 2xx price 2,80 zl), a reduced-fare ticket (for children and students) cost 1zl for a day ticket and 1,40 zl for a night ticket. -express buses (run only during the day) - a full-priced day ticket costs 2,80 zl till 8 p.m., after 8 p.m. and at weekends and holidays : 2 zl, a reduced-fare ticket costs 1,40 zl till 8 p.m., after 8 p.m. – 1 zl. It is also possible to buy one-day tickets for regular and express buses and trams. They cost: 9 zl for a full-priced day ticket and 4,5 zl for a reduced-fare ticket. 5-day tickets (also for trams) cost 27 zl and 13,50 zl for a reduced-fare ticket. 10-day tickets (also for trams) cost 48 zl and 24 zl for a reduced-fare ticket. If you have any luggage that is bigger than 120 cm altogether you are supposed to buy an additional ticket for 1 zl (for transport of it in one bus or tram). Travalling by trams: Trams run only till 11 p.m., all of them according to the same conditions (there are no express trams). The prices of one-time tickets are following: - regular one-time ticket costs 2 zl for a full-priced day ticket and 1 zl for a reduced-fare ticket (for children and students). There is also a possibility to buy one-day tickets for regular and express buses, which cost 9 zl and 4,50 zl respectively. 5-day tickets cost 27 zl and 13,50 zl for a reduced-fare tickets, 10-day tickets cost 48 zl and 24 zl. You can also buy one-day tickets for trams and regular or express buses for 9 zl and 4,50 zl for a reduced-fare ticket. 5-day tickets (also valid for buses) cost 27 zl and 13,50, 10-day tickets (also valid for buses) cost 48 zl and 24 zl respectively. If your luggage is bigger than 120 cm altogether you are asked to but an additional ticket for 1 zl (for transport of it in one bus or tram). For the reason that there is only one public transport company, there is no distinction between tram tickets and bus tickets (with the exception of express buses and night ones). Travelling from the airport to the city centre by means of public transport In order to get to the city centre (main railway and bus station) from the airport you are asked to take the 409 bus, which runs every 30 minutes. The bus stop is just in front of the exit of the arrival terminal. Depending on the volume of the traffic in the city it takes ca. 30-45 minutes to get to the centre. The ticket costs the same as a ticket for a regular bus, that is 2 zl for a full-priced day ticket and 1 zl for a reduced-fare ticket (for children and students), respectively. Tickets are sold at the newsagent’s shops at the terminal. Travelling by taxis: Taking a taxi is the fastest and the most comfortable way of travelling in the city. Moreover, it is not expensive, especially when there are more people travelling. It is the best to order a taxi from a taxi corporation on the phone.
